Beschreibung

Pompeji und Herculaneum, durch eine Tragödie in der Zeit eingefroren, sind ein Muss für jeden Besucher der Amalfiküste. Diese beiden römischen Städte wurden nach einem katastrophalen Ausbruch des Vesuvs im Jahr 79 n. Chr. unter Vulkanasche begraben. Beide sind heute wieder freigelegt und gehören zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Sie bieten einen faszinierenden und manchmal auch erschreckenden Einblick in das Leben in der Antike.

Zunächst führt Sie Ihr Reiseführer durch die Straßen von Pompeji und zeigt Ihnen die reich verzierten Villen der römischen Oberschicht - an den Wänden sind noch Fresken zu sehen - sowie öffentliche Plätze wie das Forum. Schlendern Sie durch die gepflasterten Straßen und bestaunen Sie die Überreste von Tempeln und Villen.

Am Nachmittag fahren Sie zur archäologischen Stätte von Herculaneum. Hier erfahren Sie mehr über diese ehemalige Küstenstadt, die der Vergessenheit entrissen wurde. Sie werden die Bootshäuser sehen, die die letzte Ruhestätte vieler Flüchtlinge sind, sowie Marmorböden, Mosaike und Fresken.

Going on the first Sunday when it’s free to get in meant that world and his wife was there. I would have preferred to buy tickets and have less queuing. Also was not aware of the price from you being cheaper on that Sunday! Guide and driver were marvellous

Our guide, Alessandra, was fantastic and very knowledgeable, she was very passionate about the history and damage caused by Vesuvius. Sunday was a good day to visit as the sites weren't too busy (the roads were, but when are they not in July!) €18 for lunch was more than I expected, but the food was tasty and it included a drink.

Excellent overall, more choice of food at local restraint would be nice but needs to be limited for efficiency I guess. Guide was incredibly knowledgable about the sites and the region generally.

Excellent guide. Well organised and delivered In the days leading up to the tour we were concerned about getting to Amalfi from the hotel on a Sunday with no transport available. The situation was satisfactorily resolved in the last day or two.

On arrival, you'll be welcomed aboard a traditional Sorrentine gozzo boat and sail across the Bay of Naples to Capri. Cruise past the Natural Arch, Santa Croce Bay and the fjord of Furore. There's also a photo stop at Marina di Praia. We'll then continue west, drifting by the Sirenuse Islands, locally known as Li Galli – ‘the Cocks'.Once we've reached Capri, you'll catch sight of the White Grotto, the Natural Arch, Villa Malaparte, Faraglioni Rocks, Marina Piccola and the Green Grotto for a swim. There's an optional visit into the Blue Grotto available, too. We'll then dock in Capri town for some free time for shopping. To round off the cruise, there'll be a swimming stop on the return to Maiori.
