  • Head to remote areas in the north of Madeira
  • Grade 3 moderate hike
What to expect

Emerald green landscapes characterise this hike to some of the most remote areas on Madeira. You'll walk along the Caldeirão Verde levada through mystical laurel forests to the spectacular waterfall at the end of the path. With mystifying views over the north coast and more greenery than you could imagine, this walk is not to be missed.

You'll set off on foot with your guide from the Queimadas guesthouse, and with 13km of just nature and scenery before you, you're guaranteed pure serenity during this four-and-a-half-hour-long hike. We'll follow the Caldeirão Verde levada through a green paradise with laurel trees providing cool shade and the sun peeping through the treetops.

Villages will appear dotted below in the lush green valleys and from here you'll catch your first glimpse of the Caldeirão Verde waterfall. You'll walk through a series of tunnels and soon arrive at the majestic waterfall where you'll be able to rest your legs and soak up the atmosphere before heading back to your hotel.
